Are you just uploading?
Many have complimented us on how easy the studio makes it for publishing their sermons online. What many do not realize is what creating a record actually does. Yes, I am stating the obvious. It adds a new record for uploading your sermon. But it goes beyond just adding your most recent recording.
Each time you create a new record. Picture it as you are filing a book in a public library. Follow me here!
If the librarian just received a newly published book, un-boxed it and walked to the nearest shelf and placed it in an open spot, the likely hood of anyone finding it would be slim. The same goes for you and your sermons! When creating a new record please follow the step by step guideline.
Remember. You are adding to a growing archive each time you publish a new sermon. Making use of speaker, series, scriptures, and channels* is very important for your listener to not only find the sermon they are looking for but also locate other sermons that maybe related.
If you have any questions or would like some assistance we are always happy to help. We want you to have the best tools available and know how to use them.
Record Creation
Record creation in the Sermon Network Media Delivery System is a simple process. The simplistic step by step process of record creation has allowed many ministries to sign up and begin uploading Media right away. The work flow begins with the creation of a new record.
Title
The title is very important in record creation. Not only does the title identify the message for the listener it also can appeal to their imagination. We have found that good titles drive listens.
Date
The date the sermon was preached is our default sorting option for each playlist.
Categories
To further define your record for searching and sort-ability we have created a category section so you can be more detailed about your media. These categories allow you to define the title and name of the speaker, author, or artist. If your message is a part of a series with multiple parts you can select series create the name of the series and add a part number. Another popular category is scripture reference. Once you have selected the scripture a dynamic drop down menu activates with a complete list of the books of the bible.
Description/Summary
During record creation we ask that you enter a description or summary about the sermon you are uploading. These descriptions are searchable fields that will allow the listener to drill down and find relevant sermons for the life situation they are dealing with.
Tags/Keywords
Keywords are words that identify with the record you are creating. These words will help listeners find appropriate content based upon their question or need. For instance someone might come to the Sermon Network or your archive and need some help with their relationship. They are able to do a search with their own keywords and as they match your entries your relevant sermons are suggested to them.
Channel Placement *
Channels have become a very popular method for defining an archive. With your premium Sermon Network account you have the ability to create an unlimited number of channels that can be viewed within one primary player or each channel can have it’s own unique player. In addition to a unique player each new channel you create will have it’s own podcast and mobile feed. Channels can be used to differentiate between departments within a church, for different service types (ie. tradition/contemporary), for different service days and times (ex. Saturday PM/Sunday AM or Sunday 8 AM/11 AM), channels can be used for different preaching series or even speaker names. We continue to see more ministries utilizing channels in new and exciting ways. Once you have created a channel you will have the option of which channel(s) you want your record to appear in.
